In Passing

Character actor Steven Gilborn passed away on January 2nd from cancer at his home in North Chatham, New York, he was 72.

Gilborn was in movies including Nurse Betty and Doctor Doolittle and on numerous TV shows including The Practice, LA Law, NYPD Blue, Columbo Damages and The Wonder Years. His longest running role and the one he's probably most known for, was as Ellen DeGeneres' father on her sitcom "Ellen." He was a professor of Humanities at MIT before getting into acting.

I never knew his name until today, but whenever I saw this guy in movies or on TV, he just made me smile, like a familiar face you don't forget.
